My research will be focused on developing numerical methods for the design of optimal structures and materials. The structural optimization methods will have a focus on clear boundary representations as well as nonlinear responses of designs. This will for instance include shape optimization with regards to large deformations and contact problems. An example application of such methods is the design of axisymmetric structures with tailored mechanical responses.
