The research is focused on the use of multi-modal imaging for studies of
solid-state lithium-ion batteries. Neutron imaging is combined with X-ray
imaging to perform in-situ studies of battery charging cycles, with a focus on
the mechanical deformations taking place during the charge/discharge cycle.
Previous research includes the use of synchrotron-generated X-rays to
reconstruct the stress and strain states inside monocrystalline silica grains by
means of scanning three-dimensional X-ray diffraction (S3DXRD).
